US.Education is for identifying educational opportunities and planning your academic future. There are thousands of colleges and universities across the United States. These institutions of higher learning provide a broad range of degrees and a wealth of professional programs designed to prepare you for a life of rich possibilities.
Planning for a career is a process, not a one-time event. It is common for high school students to have only a vague idea of the profession he or she might want to pursue. This is perfectly OK and not out of the ordinary. That being said, students are advised to make their best effort to prepare for entry into a trade school, college, or university that closely matches their interest. This preparation entails specific steps such as building a respectable GPA, obtaining good SAT scores, being involved in extracurricular activities, and distinguishing oneself through other notable achievements.
Once in college, most students will declare an academic major during their sophomore year. This too is subject to change as young adults refine their dream of which career path best suits them. To assist in this process of exploring possibilities is the academic adviser. An academic adviser is typically assigned to incoming freshman, but may change to a designated departmental adviser once the student’s academic major is declared.
Internships and practicums are very helpful in providing students a real life, hands-on experience in a chosen field of study. An internship or practicum offers a level of insight into a profession that would otherwise be unavailable. This unique educational experience has no substitute since it closely mirrors what it would be like to actually work in a professional capacity.
Planning for your education is a practical goal and one that is essential in building a great future. It is a valuable investment of time that yields tangible benefits as you navigate your academic career.
I absolutely love this site. Match Fish Tank has a free lesson plan repository fully developed for elementary plus some middle and high. ou can view, share, and download the curriculum used every day at Match Charter School, the PreK-12 public school that was opened 15 years ago in Boston.
These materials have been developed and curated by teachers and curriculum experts over many years. In addition, they have a site for instructional coaches and teacher leaders for professional development. These experts think teachers should spend more time planning how to teach — with the unique learning needs of their students in mind—and less time worrying about the basics of what to teach. Good baseline curriculum and assessments free teachers to do just that.
Match Fishtank is an effort to share our curriculum with teachers everywhere to lessen their load …
Common Lit is one of my new all time favorite READING sites. First and foremost it is free to teachers. Materials are rigorous and relevant in a user friendly format. It is a unique resource available to promote critical thinking. It has an amazing collection of texts and even features paired texts which allows students to explore enduring themes. It aligns with Common Core standards and brings an immediate benefit to teachers and students. I am finding it a new “go to” resource and my students really love it!…
Word Hippo is an online dictionary/thesaurus which offers a wide range of other tools including opposites, rhyming words, translation, and lots more besides.
There are probably other sites which offer the same or similar features, but I liked the simplicity of Word Hippo. The example sentences function is particularly useful for students and teachers who want to see how words are used in context.…
